Failed implants are so disappointing to the patient and the treating doctors. The patients have an expectation that the implants will not fail. The patients and the doctors want the implant to last for the rest of the patients life. However, failed implants are disappointments that we all must face. It has often been said that nothing is 100%. In order to avoid failing dental implants the implant surgeon has to make sure the fixture is surrounded by 360 degrees of good quality bone. If the bone is not present the surgeon must create the correct conditions to grow new bone.
