Kids Scared Into Behaving
As a high school science teacher, I didn’t quite realize what I was getting myself into when I signed on to help out with a recent shortage of chemistry teachers. I usually teach biology, which is much safer. Conducting chemical experiments with a bunch of teenagers who aren’t really paying attention is not my idea of a fun afternoon! To scare them, I made them watch videos of chemical burn treatment and other safety issues related to the lab. Thankfully, it got their attention and they take me much more seriously than they would have if I had never let them know just how serious their goofing off may become.
