Sameness is Very Important

While every autistic child is different, many of the characteristics of autism seem to be present in these children. Many autistic children insist on sameness. For example, they may insist on having the same set of foods every single day. They may insist on driving to or from school the exact same route. Additionally, the autistic child may feel that snack has to eaten at the same time everyday. When their schedule is changed or disrupted, even for a day, it can send them into a panic attack. It can throw their entire day off and have them obsessing over the disruption.
