I am the wife, of the president of our neighborhood baseball league. Every year we must pick coaches from our list of applicants. The first thing I do is run their name at idoc inmate search. This will tell us if they have ever spent time in jail. Just because they have a criminal record does not mean they can not coach. I write down any criminal charges and give the list to my husband. Then the board decides if they can be allowed to coach. I ran the name of a man who spent a few months in prison twenty years ago for a bar fight. They decided it would be OK for him to coach, despite the record.
